Seagulls made it hell of a summer

-

A WOMAN claims she has been trapped in her home all summer after being terrorised by a pair of seagulls.

Tracey Wight says her life has been made hell by the dive-bombing birds since they set up a nest on her roof.

She has been left too afraid to leave her home after the birds, who are protecting chicks, pecked at her face leaving her covered in blood.

Tracy, 51, of Dawlish, Devon, said: “I don’t take nonsense from anyone, but these birds terrify me.

“Over the past two months they have become a nightmare.

“My worst moment came when they trapped me against a holly bush in the garden. I daren’t move.

“They were hissing and pecking at my face.

“One of the residents saw my plight and threw an umbrella out of her window like a lifebelt.”

Tracey now uses an umbrella to fend off the gulls whenever she does manage to get out during daylight hours.

She added: “Since then I’ve always put up a big brolly when I walk round in front of the building. It doesn’t always deter them.

“They have even swooped down and scraped the top trying to get at me.

“I think they can somehow sense the fear rolling off me in waves. I just hope their young fledge soon and fly away.”

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds advises people to give the birds space while they raise their young.
