It’s puppy love as royal pair welcome a new pal

- ■ by KELLY ALLEN

PRINCE HARRY and Meghan Markle have a new puppy.

The labrador has taken up residence in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace. A royal insider said: “The dog is already happily ensconced at their cottage. Like the couple, the dog will divide its time between the palace and their country home in the Cotswolds.”

Meghan, 37, was left devastated when she had to leave her beloved pet, Bogart, a labrador-Shepherd mix, behind in Canada when she moved to London.

It was thought that the dog was too old to make the trip and is being cared for by her friends.

The former actress has a second rescue dog, Guy, who moved to the UK last November.

The beagle has adapted well to royal life, has his own Union flag coat and only eats organic food. He is often spotted going for walks around the palace grounds.

Before moving to the UK, the Duchess of Sussex regularly shared snaps of the dogs, calling them “my loves”.

Meghan has been an animal lover since she was a child and rescued Guy and Bogart from a rescue centre in Los Angeles.

They moved to Canada with her when she relocated for her role as Rachel Zane on Suits.

Harry is also a dog-lover despite never actually having one as a pet.

His biographer Penny Junor said that, up until now, Harry’s life had been too hectic to have a dog.
