Kings of the

Bournemouth .... 2 Everton .... 2 JOSH AND NATHAN LEAD THE CHARGE HEROES GRAB POINT AFTER RIC’S RED

- By Chris Hatherall

Two red cards, four goals and a injury to Everton’s Michael Keane – carried off following a sickening clash of heads with team-mate Idrissa Gueye – made for a frantic afternoon on the south coast.

It looked like being a bad one for Bournemouth when the Toffees, who had Richarlison sent off for a petulant headbutt on Adam Smith, surged into a 2-0 lead thanks to Theo Walcott and Keane.

But you can never write off the Cherries.

They had

Smith sent off for a professional foul but still came back with one of their famous revivals thanks to Josh King’s penalty and a late leveller from Nathan

Ake.

That leaves them in the top four of the Premier League.

Howe said: “It’s another comeback and I’m delighted because 2-0 down and 10 v 10 was difficult with the way the game had gone for us.

“But my players went again, the momentum changed and we were the stronger team at the end.

“I don’t think it’s one attribute which allows us to make these comebacks, it’s a combination of things. But this time it was about great mental strength.”

For Everton it was a day of mixed emotions: Pride at how they reacted to the red card but frustration at how they let a lead slip – and concern for Keane. Boss Marco Silva said: “First and the most important is that Michael Keane went to hospital and looked in that moment in a better condition, but we must wait. “As for the game I am not happy with a point, of course not.

“We had a fantastic first 25 minutes of the second half and scored two goals. At that moment it looked like the game was in our hands.

“So at that point we had to keep the ball in a different way and not give our opponents the chance to counter-attack the way we did.” Silva refused to blame referee Lee Probert for sending off Richarlison and instead warned the £40million youngster – who faces a three-match ban – about his behaviour. He said: “It’s something players cannot do, it’s something I don’t like to see.

“At this level if you are 18, 19, 20, or if you are 33, you have to keep all your emotional balance and keep your mentality.

“If somebody provokes you or not, you have to keep it.”

Nobody could have guessed the drama that lay ahead during a slow start, although Callum Wilson did miss a glorious chance early on.

But the action was sparked by Richarlison’s 41st-minute red card.

The former Watford man had scored three goals in two games to become an instant Blues hero. But he inexplicably aimed a headbutt into defender Smith’s face in an off-the-ball incident. There was barely any contact but the movement showed

it was deliberate and referee

Probert had no choice but to brandish red.

That should have spurred the Cherries on but instead Everton came out firing after the break.

Cenk Tosun sent Walcott down the right and the former Arsenal man lashed a shot past Asmir Begovic.
