United create menu for glory

-

MANCHESTER UNITED believe they have created the best possible conditions for their players to prepare for matches.

A revamp of the club’s Carrington training centre has been designed to produce better interaction between staff and players.

There have been issues at United throughout the summer and so far this season, involving manager Jose Mourinho, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and players such as Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.

But the atmosphere at Carrington is said to be positive, relaxed and upbeat.

The club have turned the canteen into a bistro-style restaurant with an improved and extended menu.

And the seating arrangements are said to be more intimate with tables closer together so everyone can mix.

That would cancel out the possibility of any cliques forming. The idea is that “we are all in this together.”

The dressing rooms have also been upgraded.

More responsibility on the training pitch has also been handed to Kieran McKenna who, like former captain Michael Carrick, is now working with the first-team squad.

Irishman McKenna, 32, was in charge of United’s Under-18s after being poached from Tottenham.

He has a strong relationship with the club’s promising young players after working in their academy.

The Red Devils are adamant that the changes made at the club mean the players cannot have any excuses for not performing to the standards expected at Old Trafford.
