Shooters aged 10 at large
KIDS as young as 10 are getting hold of guns on our streets.
A TV documentary has exposed shocking details of the crime wave gripping the UK.
During filming, Ross Kemp came face to face with armed gangs.
He said: “One gang member told me his mum chased him around the house after finding a gun in his bed. It’s so worrying to hear that the people handling these guns are getting younger.
“If you’re 10 or 13, your understanding of the repercussions of pulling that trigger are limited.”
Figures show crime in Britain spiked by
20% last year. And Ross met a smuggler who told how easy it is to bring firearms into the UK now.
“He told me he’s bringing in around 50 to 100 illegal firearms a week and the fact that
20,000 police officers have been cut has made his job easier.”
Ross also joined West Midlands Police firearms teams.
Birmingham has the most gun incidents per head in the UK. There have been almost 100 shootings in the city already this year.
Ross, who had to wear a bulletproof vest during armed raids, said it felt like his visits to the frontline in Iraq.
He wept when he met Keisha McLeod whose son CJ, 14, was killed in a gangland shooting in a play area.
He said: “You wonder what goes through the trigger-puller’s head when he’s wandering around a playground with a gun.”
Ross Kemp And The Armed Police is on ITV at 9pm on Thursday.
