007 must have licence to thrill ‘BOND SHOULDN’T HAVE TO ASK’

A FORMER Bond girl claims 007 should still be forceful with women – because it’s part of his character.

Madeline Smith, who starred with Roger Moore in Live And Let Die, spoke out despite calls for the spy to seek permission before he beds his conquests.

And she described the suggestion, which has come from the Family Planning Association, as “absurd”. The actress, 69, said: “Go away Family Planning organisation and think about babies.

“It would not work. Definitely not. You are changing the character completely.” The body, which gives advice on safe sex and planning for a family, thinks scriptwriters should ensure that future films are more PC in the wake of the “Me Too” movement sweeping Hollywood and clamping down on sexual harassment.

In 1973’s Live And Let Die, Madeline plays Italian agent Miss Caruso. She is wooed by Moore’s Bond when he uses a magnetic watch to unzip her dress.

Told he has a delicate touch, Bond replies: “Sheer magnetism, darling.” Madeline said: “When I played Miss Caruso, it was all tongue in cheek. “The fun seems to have gone out of everything. I preferred the days when we didn’t take things so seriously. “We’re not allowed tongue in cheek references anymore in case we do things wrong.”

Screen legend Dame Judi Dench, 83, has backed a change in attitudes after seven films as Bond’s boss M.

She said: “I don’t want people taking advantage. I just don’t want it to get out of hand.”
