Charlie Bronson and the Chocolate Factory

FIND GOLDEN

- ■ EXCLUSIVE by ROBIN COTTLE

FANS of notorious lag Charles Bronson could get to meet him in a Willy Wonkastyle contest.

His fan club is running a ‘golden ticket’ competition, offering the chance to visit him in prison.

The voucher is hidden inside a chocolate bar in a stunt inspired by Roald Dahl’s book Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.

A source close to Bronson said: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet one of the country’s most famous prisoners. There’s only one ticket available so I hope people have a sweet tooth.” The bars have been cheekily titled

Bronson: Fruit & Nutter. They are available through his online fan club, at £10 each or five for £45. Bronson, 65, who has spent the best part of 44 years in jail, claims to get hundreds of fan letters every week at Frankland Prison, Co. Durham.

One follower, Darren, from Newcastle, wrote on the lag’s website: “Charles Bronson is my hero. I’m finding that golden ticket if I have to buy every Bronson bar of chocolate there is.”

Ashley, from Somerset, added: “Charlie is the most violent man the UK prison system has ever locked up. To have the chance to visit him in prison is mind-boggling.” Bronson was first jailed in

1974 for armed robbery. He has been inside almost ever since.

Britain’s self-styled “most violent prisoner” assaulted jail officers and fellow inmates, befriended the Kray twins while banged up and spent time inside high-security psychiatric hospitals Broadmoor and Ashworth. The contest comes weeks after Bronson announced plans to divorce third wife Paula Williamson,

38, over her alleged flirting and boozing. To try and find the golden ticket visit bronsonfanclub. com.
