Dutch ace Flors ’em to light up Lamps

- By IAN MURTAGH

FRANK LAMPARD’S team talk was “Play it again Rams” – and Florian Jozefzoon did just that.

Derby’s £1.5million buy from Brentford opened his account in the 4-0 midweek Carabao Cup win over Hull.

And he followed up with the winner against the same opponents as Lampard’s men notched up a third straight league win.

But this was not a carbon copy of that cup cruise.

The Rams looked as if they would have to settle for a draw until Jozefzoon struck in the 88th minute, converting sub Mason Bennett’s cross with a shot that deflected off Stephen Kingsley.

It was a sickener for Hull who rallied after the break and looked the more likely winners after Todd Kane’s 53rd-minute equaliser cancelled out Martyn Waghorn’s first-half penalty.

Derby boss Lampard said: “It was always going to be completely different from the cup game.

“We were the better team in the first half and should have been more than one up but full credit to Hull.

“They felt they should have had a draw and probably have a case because we let them take the momentum.”

Kane’s leveller was straight out of the Lampard scoring manual. The Chelsea loanee has spent his formative years at Stamford Bridge dreaming of following in the footsteps of the England legend.

And the way he opened his account for his EIGHTH loan club suggests he has learnt a lot from the former midfielder.

Set up by Fraizer Campbell, composed Kane found the net with a crisp left-foot drive.

The goal sparked a period of sustained Hull pressure with Evandro’s shot dropping agonisingly wide.

Mason Mount is carving out a fantastic reputation and was at the heart of much of Derby’s attacking play.

In the 37th minute he forced David Marshall into a save diving low to his right.

By then the Rams were already ahead courtesy of Waghorn’s spot-kick after Nugent fell under a Jordy de Wijs challenge.

Hull boss Nigel Adkins said: “That performance must give everyone heart.”
