Sunderland dropped to fourth despite salvaging a point with 10 men against lowly Oxford.

But Charlie Wyke scored with Sunderland’s only shot on target.

PHIL NEVILLE believes that the feel-good factor generated by Gareth Southgate and his team in Russia over the summer can help sweep his Lionesses to success in the women’s World Cup in France next year.

England booked their spot with a 3-0 win over Wales at Newport and Neville will ring the changes for the final qualifier in Kazakhstan on Tuesday.

The England coach’s thoughts are already focused on a competition he believes England can win having reached the semi-finals of the European Championship last year.

“I believe we can win the World Cup and if the girls believe it and believe in me we will go close to winning it,” he said. “I think there will be a carry-over from the summer and we can tap into it. We have got a template now on how to prepare for a World Cup.”
