Lovejoy star dies

‘DEAR PAL’: Dudley LOVEJOY star Dudley Sutton has died at 85.

The actor, who was in showbusiness for 60 years, was best known as Tinker Dill in the BBC One series.

He also played William Makepeace in ITV soap Emmerdale.

Tributes were coming in last night for the star, born in Surrey, whose credits also included The Pink Panther Strikes Again, Porridge and The Sweeney.

Writing online, Lovejoy co-star Chris Jury called him “my dear, dear pal”.
