Clarkson gets out chopper

-

JEREMY Clarkson used a helicopter four times on one overseas jaunt to pick up cigarettes and gravy mix from the nearest town.

The owner of a posh island resort in New Zealand has revealed that he was up there with Lady Gaga as one of his most eccentric guests.

The petrolhead TV star was staying at the exclusive Waiheke Unlimited to film scenes for Top Gear.

Owner and managing director Ed Coutts said: “Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has been a regular visitor and during one stay he sent a helicopter to Auckland four times for things like cigarettes because it was too far to drive to the shop.

“A Monopoly game was requested at 6.30pm when the Waiheke shops were closed and even gravy mix.

“The cost was outrageous and the show’s promoters were complaining they were going broke.”

During another visit, Clarkson wanted a new Range Rover Sport with no mileage delivered to the house. It was delivered but he didn’t even drive it.

Coutts said: “I asked him what was the point and he said, ‘I just wanted to look at it’.”

The owner also told how Lady Gaga had five choppers carrying lookalikes flying in different directions when she flew to the island.
