CHILD STARS Celebs cash in as the voices of kids’ TV
MAKING extra cash is child’s play for some of our biggest stars.
Huge names have found a lucrative sideline doing voiceovers on kids’ TV.
Even Hollywood A-listers such as Mark Rylance and Tom Hardy are getting in on the act.
Oscar-winner Mark reckons it has made him a better dad, while screen hunk Tom signed up as a tribute to his pet dog.
But they can also earn huge amounts for their time.
A television insider told us: “Kids’ shows are big business and producers at channels such as CBeebies will pay big money to get a household name on board.
“Having someone well-known voicing a character can make the show entertaining for adults as well as kids.”
Other stars are only too happy to act up to make shows more entertaining.
Presenter Eamonn Holmes even agreed to sing when he signed up for the CBeebies show Biggleton.
Meanwhile, breakfast TV star Lorraine Kelly entered the Jingly Jangly Jungle to play Raa Raa the Noisy Lion.
Showbiz agent Barry Tomes said: “When a celebrity does voiceover work on a kids’ series they can easily earn £35,000 and it will only take a few days to do a whole series.
“When they arrive they’ll have a script ready for them and they can get it all done in one go, even if it will be airing across a number of months.”
