‘Housing crisis’ for no-savings jobless
HUNDREDS of thousands of Brits might have to sell their home if they lose their job, because they don’t have the cash to stay put while looking for work.
A study by Zurich UK found more than half of adults have been out of work in their lifetime yet still don’t have any cash set aside or a back-up plan in case it happens again. Some 13% of those who answered the survey said they would have to give up the family home if they lost their income.
And more than a quarter would have to start selling possessions to get by, while one in ten said they would start looking for a lodger to help cover their costs.
