JACOBS’ Five-time Naps Table champ Moorestyle’s best bets…

-

SUNDAY SERVICE THERE are four Group One events at the Curragh today but the best wager comes in the handicap finale in the form of LETHAL STEPS (6.00).

Trained by National Hunt maestro Gordon Elliott, the three-year-old put up a career-best effort in the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at Newmarket over a mile.

However, the nap selection has been crying out for a step back up in trip and a fast-run race over this stiff 10 furlongs looks absolutely spot on and anything around the 8-1 mark looks solid each-way value.

Aidan O’Brien will saddle four of the seven runners in the National Stakes at but they could all get blown away by the unbeaten Godolphin colt QUORTO (4.15).

This beautifully bred son of Dubawi made his rivals look like statues when hacking up at Newmarket last time out and he looks like the real deal.

BANDUIC EILE (3.40) looks the answer to the big fillies’ juvenile event, the Moyglare, but the feature Irish St Leger looks wide open. Despite only the six runners, five have solid claims but the progressive WEEKENDER (4.50) looks the one to be on. Runnerup in the Ebor at York three weeks ago, this lightly raced colt has plenty more improvement to come and may take care of Flag of Honour and Irish derby winner Latrobe.

If the ground remains rattling fast at Bath and Jan Elliot hides her mount in mid pack then the Golden Horse Racing Club can strike in the big sprint handicap final with DANDILION (3.40)

This former Beverley winner has a potent finish in a fast-run race and this looks the perfect set-up for her. The best wager at Ffos Las is JUNDERSTAND

(4.05) in the fillies’ handicap.

Alan King’s charge should be well suited to this first run over a mile and a quarter and can see off likely favourite Jedhi.

NEXT WEEK

As long as there is enough juice in the ground I will be having a big each-way bet on HEY JONESY in Saturday’s Ayr Gold Cup.

Thought good enough to run in three Group One events so far in his career, including the Haydock Sprint Cup last time out, that race should have put him spot on for this cavalry charge and the

25-1 looks appealing.
