ASHLEY: DO FANS WANT HER TO FAIL?

- ■ by SUSAN HILL

SHE’S one of the sexiest stars ever to take to the Strictly dance floor but it seems fans want her out.

Ashley Roberts, 37, who last night performed a quickstep to Don’t Rain On My Parade from Funny Girl with partner Pasha Kovalev, 38, has wowed the judges.

But some fans have accused the former Pussycat Doll of being a professional dancer with an unfair advantage.

And last week she and Pasha faced the dance off after being in the bottom two despite scoring 36 points.

Ashley defended her dancing experience, saying: “When I was in the Pussycat Dolls I did study jazz and pop but Latin and ballroom were not at all in my world.”

A source close to the star added: “There have always been contestants with varying degrees of dance training.

“Obviously, she was a little disappointed to find herself in the dance off but having lost her dad earlier this year things like this just don’t get to her.”

Ashley’s dad Pat, 69, who once played drums with 60s legends The Mamas & The Papas, took his own life in March.

Earlier in the series Ashley performed a contemporary dance she dedicated to her late father.

The routine left head judge Shirley Ballas, 58, in tears and earned Ashley 39 points.

Our source added: “Ashley feels her dad is with her each time she performs.”
