Hot-shot Harry lifts the gloom for Lamps
HARRY WILSON produced two stunning strikes to help Derby bite back after their midweek controversy.
Midfielder Bradley Johnson was banned for four games after photos suggested he bit Stoke’s Joe Allen.
But that had no effect as Wilson responded with two long-range goals.
Derby also showed character to recover from the news that defender Curtis Davies is out for the season with an Achilles injury.
Rams boss Frank Lampard said: “In a game like today’s you need a bit of magic and Harry produced it.Your eyes are drawn to Harry’s strikes but his work rate was good.
“I am disappointed with the length of Bradley’s ban. Joe Allen has said he didn’t bite him.
“Today was a tough game. The lads dealt with the situation very well.”
Wilson scored for a third successive Derby game – keeping up his impressive seasonlong loan from Liverpool.
The Wrexhamborn, Wales star had netted against Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke.
“He’s one of your own” chanted the Derby fans at the travelling contingent.
Once the winger had put Derby 2-0 up, there appeared to be a mountain to climb for the Welsh side.
Swansea offered little in attack but were given late hope when Fikayo Tomori scored an own goal after a Matthew Grimes corner.
But Lampard’s side survived a nervy finish to take all three points.
Swans boss Graham Potter said: “The first goal was a great strike but the second was a mistake from us and we can do better.
“It’s three defeats in a row. “It has been a bad week in terms of results – there’s no getting away from that.”
