Jones boys have a need for speed

MIKE TINDALL has told Eddie Jones his side will need to be fast and furious to conquer the rugby globe next year.

It was a mixed Autumn bag for England with three wins out of four, just losing to the All Blacks by a single point.

But as far as former centre Tindall is concerned, the Irish are head and shoulders above the rest of the Northern Hemisphere right now and England face a race to catch up until next year’s World Cup in Japan.

He said: “England went through a phase of winning ugly for a long period of time and once you start losing games, where is your reference point to go back to when you were performing?

“We have just got to get back to playing with that high intensity and high tempo. If we can get back to doing that I know we have the players who will always compete.

“England will be upset that they did not manage to put together an 80-minute performance – the kind of dominating display which they will need if they are to win a World Cup.

“There are still question marks around the team, such as what is our best back row.”

Tindall warns that England face the toughest possible Six Nations opener in Dublin on February 2 and said: “It should be a great Six Nations and come down to who can manage to nick an away win.

“It’s going to be a massive challenge for England over there because we all know how fired up the Irish get.”
