Brave Barbara’s back at big bash

- ■ by ISOBEL DICKINSON

DAME Barbara Windsor enjoyed a festive outing with her husband on a rare night out this week. The former EastEnders star, who has Alzheimer’s, went to a Christmas bash in London on Friday alongside hubby Scott Mitchell.

The Carry On actress, 81, went public about her condition in May, four years after she was diagnosed.

She also had a pacemaker fitted in

August after a fall at home.

But Babs looked in great health and she smiled for photographers as she left the star-studded party with her devoted husband. The couple, left, rubbed shoulders with a string of celebs including Elizabeth Hurley, below, Sir Mick Jagger and Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field.

Scott gave an emotional update on the screen legend’s condition while appearing on Loose Women in October, admitting he has no regrets about going public with her condition as “it couldn’t be hidden any more”. He added: “It’s only been a positive experience since sharing the diagnosis.” Scott said he didn’t want his wife to “come across as if she was being kind of silly or people looking at her thinking, ‘That’s a very strange thing to say,’ if she failed to recognise old pals.”

He added: “It was getting more difficult. If we were in the taxi she’d ask the driver eight times where he lived.”
