Tax row my fault, says Gaz

GARY Barlow says he takes “full responsibility” after he was caught up in a tax avoidance scandal.

The Take That star faced heavy criticism in 2014 over the schemes.

Asked on Desert Island Discs how he looks back on the time, the singer said: “Awful, really awful.

“I take full responsibility for that.

“You try and do these things under the guidance of other people. I don’t know a thing about accounts. I never want to. It’s of no interest to me.

“I signed those things. It’s my responsibility.

“So all I could do at that point was just say, hold your hands up, say ‘I’m sorry, and whatever I owe, just pay it back immediately’ and get on with your life.”

Barlow kept his head down when the storm blew up, apologising “to anyone who was offended by the tax stories”.

He also talked about his eating disorder, saying: “There was a lightbulb moment. I realised this is as bad as I want to let it get. It involved a trip to the doctor who informed me of my weight and that I was in a bad place.

“I had young kids and it felt highly irresponsible.”

CHILD killer Ian Huntley wants stockings, a tweed twin-set and a wig for Christmas.

The Soham murderer hopes to quit tough HMP Frankland to start a new life as a woman at another jail.

Huntley, who killed 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, has told friends he wants a tweed dress with matching jacket. He plans to wear them in his cell when alone.

Huntley, 44, is trying to prove to doctors that he is serious about going through with a sex change.

And he insists that he has the legal right to be addressed as Lian by bosses at the prison.

One source said last night: “As strange as it sounds, Huntley gets emails from people. He calls them his pen-pals.

“He asked if they will send him in some women’s clothes for Christmas.

“He wants a tweed twin-set, a new dress, a blonde wig and what he calls some ‘Christmas stockings’.”

But our source warned: “Huntley is a manipulative and despicable individual.

“He joined a Muslim gang in prison for protection but he was forced out after he started claiming that he wanted a sex change.

“Huntley believes he will have a much cushier life in a women’s prison. But he is mistaken as he will get a far harder time from female prisoners.

“There are now a growing number of trans-prisoners in Frankland and Huntley is desperate to become a member of a group who will offer him a bit of protection.”

Huntley is already one of the most unpopular inmates at the Co. Durham top security jail where he is serving 40 years.

Amid death threats from other cons, he has been given his own personal protection officer.

Inmates must pass psychological tests to prove they genuinely want to change sex and are not just looking for special treatment.

Huntley has been wearing eyeliner and trying to get hold of women’s clothes to wear over the past year.

Although he has made several claims about having a sex change it is understood he is yet to make a formal request to the governor. Huntley is regarded as a prisoner at high risk from attack and often spends time in isolated areas for his own protection. The double killer has already survived one murder attempt after having his throat slashed by armed robber Damien Fowkes in 2010.
