Jos goes ballistic at his bunch of Owl-ers

- By ADRIAN STILES

UNDER-FIRE Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay tore into his defenders after conceding twice inside a minute to surrender to Swansea.

It looked like Marco Matias was going to lift the pressure on the Owls boss when he punished Joe Rodon’s defensive blunder.

But Bersant Celina came on and scored before setting up Wayne Routledge to leave Luhukay on the brink.

“I am so angry because the players are showing no proof of what we are doing,” said Luhukay, who has now won just one of his last 10 matches. “We didn’t defend down our left side twice and that is not acceptable.

“How many times has this happened? When the players don’t learn from this situation then you won’t win games.”

The Welsh side looked ready to heap more pressure on Luhukay with an early spell of dominance led by the resurgent Routledge.

But the winger failed to find the net after being set up by Oli McBurnie and they were almost made to pay on the stroke of half-time.

The Swans defence switched off at a corner to allow Lucas Joao to unleash a shot that flew just wide.

But Wednesday did give themselves an opportunity to claim a rare away win in the 63rd minute.

Rodon had got away with a defensive error when Joao curled a shot wide but he was punished when he gave the ball away cheaply on the edge of his own box.

He was robbed by Matias who kept his cool to drill a shot post Erwin Mulder.

But Celina was sent on in the 66th minute and played a key role in a great comeback.

He placed the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after Barrie McKay slipped Connor Roberts in behind the Owls defence, then lobbed the back four for Routledge to control and run on to fire through the legs of Cameron Dawson.

“It was great for Bersant to come on and score and turn the game around for us,” said Swans boss Graham Potter.

“As a team it shows there’s a mentality to recover from setbacks, recover from mistakes.”
