GIRLS READY TO RELEASE SOLO SINGLES IN 2019…

-

THE Spice Girls are working on brand new music but NOT as a group.

Four of the five original members are preparing solo material on the back of next year’s comeback tour.

Geri, Emma, Mel B and Melanie C all decided that trying to release new music befitting the Spices’ catalogue of hits would be too hard.

So instead the quartet will use the reunion as a platform to relaunch their solo careers.

Geri Horner, who has spent over two years working on new tracks, will finally release her first solo LP since 2005 next year.

She originally planned a country album featuring songs by Ed Sheeran’s regular songwriting partner Amy Wadge and Spice Girls collaborator Eliot Kennedy.

But a source close to the girls revealed: “Geri has a stockpile of country-tinged tunes which she has decided to drop from this album because she wants it to be a big pop record.

“She thinks there is no better time to re-launch herself as a singer.”

Emma Bunton has already announced she has a new album coming after signing a deal with

BMG. Now Mel B, who was the keenest member to get the band back together, is eyeing up a number of music projects in 2019 as well as more TV (an X Factor UK return maybe?).

That just leaves Melanie C – who has always been the most prolific Spice Girl.

I hear she is keen to add to her seven solo albums.

One thing is for certain – we won’t be getting another Victoria Beckham single. Thank the pop Gods for small mercies.

But with a new Greatest Hits Spice Girls collection in the works as well, 2019’s charts may prove mildly Spicy after all.
