JACOBS’ Crackers

Five-time Naps Table champ Moorestyle’s best bets…

SUNDAY SERVICE

BIG RIVER (2.35) will absolutely love the testing ground at Carlisle this afternoon and can gallop his rivals into the ground in the Pertemps Qualifer.

Although travelling well when falling at the 10th in the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle, the eightyear-old was still some way off the lead and a confidence booster back over hurdles looks a logical move by Grand National winning trainer Lucinda Russell, (inset).

This will only be his seventh race under rules and he looks well worth the nap at the chief expense of the veteran Isaacstown Lad.

The Nigel Twiston-Davies clam should land a double with EARLOFTHECOTSWOLDS

(12.20) and likely favourite ONE FOR ROSIE (1.20).

The big betting race of the day is the Tara Handicap Hurdle at Navan due with SQUOUATEUR

(1.00) the best bet. Gordon Elliott’s charge has been a jumping nightmare over fences but this drop back to hurdles should see him in a much better light.

The Grade Two Navan Novice Hurdle looks wide open and a chance is taken with MONBEG WORLDWIDE (12.30).

Jockey Jack Kennedy can complete a treble on the day for trainer Gordon Elliott with the promising DIAMOND TURF (1.30).

My best bets at Southwell are GENEROUS DAY

(12.40) and BIRCH VALE

(2.15).

NEXT WEEK

The Fibresand season is getting into full swing at Southwell and KING OF NAPLES (1.30) looks the best handicapped horse on the card on Tuesday. Then 24 hours later, KINGSLEY KLARION (1.15), given a rather mischievous ride at Wolverhampton last time, will hopefully put the record straight at Lingfield.

ANTE-POST

I am warming to the chance of MONBEG NOTORIOUS in the Welsh National. He could be a blot on the handicap and 20-1 is each-way value.
