Pervert rocker dresses up in foil suit for jail karaoke ...and is booed off by lags
CHILD molester Gary Glitter was booed off stage in tears at a jail karaoke session.
The paedophile, 74, had hoped to impress fellow cons by singing a medley of his biggest hits.
He even dressed in a tin-foil suit for the performance.
But instead of winning over his fellow inmates, he left the stage to shouts of “off, off, off,” after singing Another Rock ‘N’ Roll Christmas and I Love, You Love, Me Love.
The inmates’ karaoke took place at HMP The Verne, a Category C prison on the Isle of Portland, Dorset.
Sources said Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, rehearsed his songs for three weeks before the event, often singing in his cell and during meal times.
One prison source said: “It was meant to be just a bit of fun, but Gadd took it incredibly seriously. He had managed to get hold of some of his old music. Most of the other people who took part in the show did it for a laugh, but Gadd seemed to think he was back on Top of The Pops.
“It started badly when the music wouldn’t play. Then he had to stop halfway through and drink some water.
“After the second song things seemed to improve, but the audience found the whole thing a bit too pretentious.
“Rather than looking like a pop star he looked liked a pensioner wrapped in a safety blanket, singing out of tune to a 70s record. It was a bit surreal.
“But just when he seemed to find his voice the audience started shouting, ‘off, off, off ’.”
“Most of the inmates at the prison are sex offenders. “They’re not dangerous or violent, so there was never a chance of trouble.
“Gadd sulked off in tears and had to be consoled by some of the other prisoners. They had to reassure him that he was just as good a singer as he was in his heyday.”
Gadd was jailed for 16 years in 2015 for attempted rape, unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, and indecent assault.
The former rock star abused three young girls between 1975 and 1980.
He was moved from HMP Albany to Verne, which had a £3.3million makeover, earlier this year. It has become a Category C jail that solely houses paedophiles.
They have tea-making facilities in their cells and are allowed to walk freely around their wing all day.
The jail also reportedly has an exercise yard, a pond with koi carp and a farm where convicts can grow flowers and look after ducks.
