PERV ADAM BEGS: LET ME PLAY FOOTIE AGAIN

Johnson plea as he’s set to be freed

FOOTIE pervert Adam Johnson is still hoping clubs will “give him another chance” when he is released from jail next year.

The paedophile planned to write to teams begging for a job before he was talked out of it by his family.

Former England winger Johnson, 31, is likely to be freed in March after serving half of his six-year sentence for child sex offences.

A friend of the footballer claimed: “He was going to write an open letter to all the clubs explaining why he can benefit them if they give him another chance.

“Some might think he is joking, but he is deadly serious.”

Johnson played 12 times for England and won the Premier League with Manchester City before being jailed for grooming and sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl. But he is still looking to cash in on his talent and has been playing football at HMP Moorland near Doncaster, South Yorks, to keep his fitness up.

Earlier this year, non-league Hartlepool United distanced themselves from making a move for Johnson. Other reports claim he is plotting to resurrect his career in Turkey, China or the Middle East.

The pal said: “Adam obviously still has what it takes in football terms, but this is a mad plan.

“The family accepts his chances of resurrecting his career in the UK are slim at best, and a move such as this would only serve to antagonise people.”

After his trial, chairman of the Professional Footballers’ Association Gordon Taylor blasted Johnson for “damaging the reputation of football”. He said his chances of playing again were “very remote”.

Meanwhile, Johnson is reported to have said he wanted to apologise in person to his victim but was persuaded not to by his father.

The former Sunderland star, who has a three-year-old daughter Ayla with former partner Stacey Flounders, has also told lags he is the “fittest I’ve ever been”.

A source said: “He spends every moment he can in the gym.

“He says he’s fighting fit. He confessed that during his days at Sunderland he wasn’t in the best shape and liked a drink.”
