Patrick’s proving a sauce of magic

- By MICHAEL HAM

PAT’LL DO: Mahomes PATRICK MAHOMES has had most of the AFC playing catch-up this year.

The Kansas City quarterback has thrown for more yards and more touchdowns than anybody else in the NFL.

But it seems as the end-of-season crunch nears, the MVP-level candidate is also getting a bit saucy.

After initially professing his love for spreading ketchup on his steaks as well as mac and cheese earlier in the season, Mahomes, 23, last week signed a deal with American brand Hunt’s.

“I’ve been a fan of ketchup for as long as I can remember,” he said in the press release after signing up as a brand ambassador.

Mahomes himself has fans aplenty after a remarkable year of incredible no-look throws and completing 60-yard bombs seemingly at will.

The Chiefs are 11-3 this season but lost 29-28 against AFC West rivals the LA Chargers in their last outing.

And while that defeat was painful, Mahomes is ready for their clash with Seattle tonight.

He said: “Every loss is going to hurt, especially being a last-second loss.

“That definitely hurts a lot, especially in the division.

“Luckily, we’re still in a position where we control our own destiny.

“We can still win these last two games and get the number one seed and get to have playoff games at Arrowhead.

“We’re focused on that and moving ahead and getting better.

“Playing in Seattle is exciting. It’s going to be a great challenge. It’s going to be a hostile environment.

“We got to play them in the pre-season last year and you could sense how crazy and loud it was going to be, even in a pre-season game.

“You know with it being a play-off implication game, it’s going to be rocking pretty heavily.

“It’s going to be a great challenge for us.

“It’s going to give us a challenge that we can go out there and win a football game against a really good team.”

Seattle can also guarantee their place in the post-season tonight if they win and a number of other results around the league go their way.
