GINN TALK IS JUST FOREIGN

- By NEIL MOXLEY

SILVA LINING: Lucas Digne is loving life at Everton with Marco Silva JOHN McGINN has had no trouble transporting his form from Scottish into English football – it’s just a pity he can’t do the same with the accent!

The Glaswegian has settled into life at Aston Villa and become a mainstay under both Steve Bruce and Dean Smith following his £2.8million switch from Hibs.

But coming to terms with life south of the border has not been easier said than done. In fact, nothing has been easier said than done – not even in the coffee shop.

He said: “Initially, it was kind of tough for me because people in shops and schools, wherever

I went, they just couldn’t understand me.

“My accent is quite strong. Even something as simple as ordering a coffee was quite difficult.

“I’ve ordered a coffee when I’ve been out with Birkir Bjarnason and Anwar El Ghazi and they haven’t got a clue what I’m saying either. I need to try and slow down. That’s the problem I think.

“It’s not got to the stage yet where anyone English has tried to translate for me. I’m not going to start picking up an English accent either, I’ll get too much stick for that when I go back home.”

The Scotland star’s energy has been a big hit at Villa Park. Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds visit Villa Park today in a clash between two former European Cup finalists and McGinn (left) added: “It’s a fixture everyone wants to be involved in. “When I signed for Villa it was a game I looked at. This is two massive clubs who should be in the Premier League.

“On paper, it’s got goals written all over it. Both teams will attack. They are top and they are there for a reason. “They’ve got dangerous players all over the pitch but so have we. We’ve got the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Tammy Abraham and Anwar El Ghazi. They are players that most clubs in the Championship would love. “It’s a cliche but it’s set up to be a cracker.”
