skating legend believes just five of the celebrities are in with a chance – Wes Nelson, James Jordan, Saara Aalto, Melody Thornton and Jane Danson.

He said: “There are at least five skaters who could be vying for the title.

“Clearly James has shown his hand and it looks great.

“But I think there’s a lot of potentially good skaters. Melody has come out really strong as well, and Saara too.

“It’s all about pushing them. We’re excited to see how they develop and how they move forward.”

Christopher’s comments come just a day after fellow judge Jason Gardiner also ripped into Gemma – branding her lazy.

And last week Holly Willoughby declared the TOWIE star was unprofessional. Gemma has admitted that reports about her behaviour have made her want to quit the show.

Wes has also been at the centre of controversy after his girlfriend Megan Barton Hanson criticised his skating partner Vanessa Bauer.

But Christopher reckons the Love Island hunk won’t crumble like Gemma. He said: “I don’t think the headlines will affect Wes’ performance. I think he’s pretty focused. “We have been working with him and he is very focused. He just wants to do the best job.

“I’m very proud him.

“There may have been something going on, but he didn’t show it on the ice.” of Jeremy Clarkson and James May.

Meanwhile, Hammond, 49, has revealed he had decided not to teach his daughter how to drive.

Izzy, 18, is having lessons with a driving instructor instead.

Hammond said: “It was quite awkward when I first met her driving instructor. I said, ‘It’s all right, you can laugh’.

“But teaching wouldn’t have been a good idea. I can’t teach her to pass a driving test.

“My kids are not at all impressed by what I do.”

The Grand Tour is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video now.
