Frank-ly it’s a massive relief to win on the road

- By STEVE MORGAN

BRENTFORD boss Thomas Frank says it is “massive” for his side to secure their first away win of the season.

The Bees are a pleasure to watch but have only recently hit top form with victory at hard-working Rotherham extending their unbeaten run to seven games.

Frank, whose team have been lightweight on the road, said: “It’s massive for us – it is way too long since we had an away win. It’s a big step.

“We have had a bad run of games but we have started taking positive steps. Hopefully we can continue this.

“We started well then gave the ball away as it was coming too easy for us and this league is never easy.

“They got at us and created two huge chances where they could have led.

“Second half I think we deserved the win and created more chances. But this is a very difficult place to play.”

Brentford’s first three goals were almost carbon copies of each other.

Kamohelo Mokotjo fired them in front inside two minutes after Said Benrahma had pulled the ball back and Benrahma scored eight minutes into the second half from Romaine Sawyers’ square ball.

Mokotjo sidefooted Brentford ahead for the third time in the 75th minute after Rico Henry’s cutback before Neal Maupay made the game safe with a clinical left-foot finish five minutes from time.

Rotherham had twice levelled through Jon Taylor’s superb half-volley from the edge of the box on 20 minutes and an own goal by the unlucky Ezri Konsa, which made it 2-2 in the 73rd minute.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne said: “I think Brentford are a very good side – they have given us a couple of soccer lessons this season. After we rode the initial storm, I thought we should have come in at half-time in front.

“We went behind again and when we levelled for the second time I thought we’d go on and win it. It was a bitter pill when they scored their third so soon after. Their finishing was unbelievable and that’s maybe why Maupay is worth £25m.”
