Tigers hit by one Ul of a recovery

- RUGBY UNION by JULIE STOTT

ULSTER’S incredible comeback stunned Leicester to keep their Champions Cup hopes alive.

Trailing 10-0 at half-time, the Province came roaring back through tries from Marty Moore and Robert Baloucoune to win 14-13.

In Pool Four’s other game, Simon Zebo’s two second-half scores were enough to give already qualified Racing 92 a 46-33 victory over Scarlets.

Five-star Saracens confirmed their place as Pool Three winners with a 38-19 win over Glasgow, who join them in the quarter-finals.

Missing injured Owen Farrell, his England team-mates Maro Itoje and Billy Vunipola were among five try scorers as Sarries made it six wins from six.

The opposite is true for Lyon, who finished pointless after a 33-14 defeat to Cardiff, despite leading 14-12. Tries from Blues’ Owen Lane, Tomos Williams and Lewis Jones settled matters. and was found guilty of being twice over the drink-drive limit.

He has since spent 26 days at Tony Adams’ Sporting Chance clinic and insists the rehabilitation – enforced by Wigan – has finally sorted him out.

However, Lam admits there are no guarantees. “Zak’s in a good headspace at the moment but it’s an on-going situation,” he said.

“If we get that right the footy will double and triple. He’s trained really well and we’re all excited about his performance. Rugby League is a blue collar sport. Whilst you want the ideal person, we are not computers, and everyone comes through hard times.

“One of my philosophies as a coach is to improve the person as a person not just as a player on the field.”

Hardaker shared digs with his new team-mates Dan Sarginson and Jarrod Sammut before moving into a house in Wigan with his girlfriend on Friday.

And Lam is convinced this will help a player who has previously admitted that he gets led astray by friends who are not involved in rugby league.

He said: “It will keep him grounded rather than travelling a lot. Hopefully his partner will settle in.

“We will make sure we put help around her too, help with friends and relationship and with life here.” HELPING HAND: Adrian Lam
