Star’s bruv hopes to join the Street

- EXCLUSIVE by ED GLEAVE TV Editor

THE BROTHER of footie ace Ryan Giggs is being tipped to join Coronation Street.

Rhodri has made his acting debut in an ad for a betting firm.

During filming, he impressed the production crew with his performance.

And his efforts now look set to land him more acting roles.

Pals of Rhodri who work on the hit ITV show are said to have put in a good word to producers for him.

A source said: “Everyone was really impressed by Rhodri on set. He was a natural in front of the camera.

“Some of the production crew have friends who work on Corrie. He knows people from the show too. They said they’d recommend him, so there’s a chance he’ll get to audition.

“It would be a life-changing opportunity.”

Rhodri, 41, had no idea he would be good at acting before signing up for the ad.

But now he is keen to carve out a career in the industry.

He said: “I took the job as I thought it was fun and paid well.

“What I didn’t expect to find is that I actually enjoyed the whole experience and had a talent for the acting side, so this is definitely a path I now wish to pursue.”

Last week, we told how Rhodri wanted to let his cheating brother back into his life.

But the ad for Paddy Power pokes fun at their feud.

They fell out after it emerged the ex-Manchester United player had been having an affair with Rhodri’s wife Natasha.

An industry insider said: “As if Ryan isn’t going to be sick enough of seeing this ad mocking him, Rhodri could become a regular face on telly.”

A string of famous names have had cameo roles on Corrie, including Peter Kay, Paddy McGuinness, Holly Willoughby, Vic Reeves, Nigel Havers and Rula Lenska.

New boss Ian MacLeod has said he’s open to getting more celebs on set in the future.

A Corrie spokeswoman said there were no current plans to hire Rhodri.
