Stone in Cuckoo new role
SHARON Stone is to co-star in a blockbuster TV prequel to classic film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
She will be joined in Ratched by former Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon and American Horror Story Emmy-winner Sarah Paulson.
The Netflix series, which opens in 1947, will follow the journey of Nurse Ratched, played by Paulson, from concerned caregiver to fully-fledged monster in a mental institution.
The character was originally played by Louise Fletcher, who won a best actress Oscar for the 1975 comedy drama.
It was one of five Academy Awards racked-up by the movie – based on Ken Kesey’s novel – that starred Jack Nicholson.
Hollywood veteran Michael Douglas, who co-produced the original film, has been named as an executive producer of the TV series.
It will be directed by American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy.
Fox 21 TV Studios is making the show for Netflix.
A spokesman said details of the roles to be played by Stone and Nixon will be revealed in March of April. HE is the world’s greatest living thriller writer – now Michael Connolly is giving away his inspirations in a riveting podcast.
The Murder Book is narrated by Connolly – who sounds just like one of his hard-bitten LA characters – and features a real-life investigation that lasted decades.
Connolly talks to the detectives whose experiences he mined for his fictional hero cops, Bosch and Ballard. And he pieces it all together with the meticulous detail that makes his novels so compelling. DM
