Luke out for us, warns Thompson

- By JULIE STOTT

LUKE THOMPSON has warned Wakefield to expect a ruthless display from both himself and St Helens today.

The Saints enforcer (left) was the best prop in Super League last year, earning him his first England call-up.

But Thompson, 23, says he is determined to get even better to make sure he is on the Great Britain tour Down Under later this year.

He also admits that Saints, who beat Wigan 22-12 in the opening game last week, are hell-bent on avenging last year’s disappointments.

He said: “We went out at the semi-final stage in the Challenge Cup and Super League and it drives us on.

“We want to get to both finals this season. Last year was great for me. I only missed two games for Saints and to play for England was a dream come true. I want to get even better.”

Trinity went down to a shock 42-24 defeat at new boys London Broncos and coach Chris Chester said: “We did not prepare as well as we could have done. The players take responsibility for what happened on the field but I take responsibility for that part of it.” Wakefield v St Helens
