Saint’s alive to Red Rose dangerman

- By GARY FITZGERALD

FRANCE must stop Owen Farrell running the show at Twickenham today if they want to wreck England’s Grand Slam dreams.

Rugby legend Philippe Saint-Andre insists the best way his countrymen can spoil the party is to front up physically and cut out mistakes.

Farrell played a leading role in silencing the Dublin crowd last weekend and ensuring his side flew back home with a stunning opening Six Nations win in the bag.

But former Les Bleus wing and head coach Saint-Andre (below) is hoping the visitors will use both brain and brawn to keep Faz quiet.

He said: “The France players have to be ready to be as physical as the England pack which was very intimidating against Ireland and made the difference.

“But the one player in the England backs who is also key to them is Farrell. If he is allowed to put England on the front foot then France could find things very tough. He is the focal point for all that happens.

“He is outstanding in defence. He tackles well, he is brave and he is very vocal during the game. He has a good rugby brain and supports the attack well too.

“We saw an England with the perfect balance of attack and defence. There’s the power of the Vunipola brothers and

Manu Tuilagi, then tireless workers like Jamie George,

Mark Wilson and Tom Curry.

“But then they had talented creators and finishers in Jonny

May, Henry Slade and Elliot Daly.” NEW ENGLAND: Owen Farrell is taking inspiration from his idol
