em don’t future and they proved that by getting him to sign a new three-and-a-half year contract last month.

That stopped as many as six Championship clubs from pursuing him in the January window after Kane had seriously impressed in his loan season at Doncaster. But would the midfielder have been happier with his Liverpool team-mates at their Marbella training ground last week instead of battling in the FA Cup under boss Grant McCann?

No chance.

Kane added: “I would 100 per cent rather be in the FA Cup. I’m trying to win something rather than being away in a training camp. I want to win.

“That’s what I’m looking for. And I would probably say it’s the biggest game of my career. But I don’t really look into it too much. “I’ll just go out there and play and try to win. I’m not interested in who we are playing or anything like that. I just focus on myself and our team. “I couldn’t tell you who I play like. You would have to ask someone who has watched me. “I would say I have technique and celebrated when we scored. The boxes here overlooked the Oldham fans.

“But my mum and dad are thick-skinned. They are from a tough place in Belfast. Nothing fazes them really. So it’s nothing serious and she forgot about it.

“They support me through thick and thin. They have been to a few of the rounds and they are lucky charms. They love it. They’re brilliant.

“It’s great to have them over here supporting us. My dad retires soon as well so he will get more chance to come over at the weekends.”

Mum and dad will definitely be on their feet again I can run. I’m box-to-box. I like defending and I like attacking.

“I was flattered by the interest in me because I want to challenge myself and I want to get higher up the league.

“But I’m playing here and doing well. The manager trusts me. I want to try and get Doncaster promoted so I’m happy to stay here.”

Kane, though, is highly ambitious and after watching his pal Trent Alexander-Arnold play in last season’s Champions League Final against Real Madrid, he would love to line up alongside his team-mate.

He said: “I was pleased for him. He’s taken every chance he’s had so fair play.

“Hopefully I can join him soon. He’s showed what he’s capable of and I’m looking to do that, just perhaps in a different way.

“Seeing people from the academy getting their chance gives me belief and hopefully I will be able to join them soon.”

The irony is not lost on his growing band of admirers that his initials mirror that of Harry Kane.

But this HK has only met the England and Tottenham namesake briefly.

Kane added: “Yes I have seen him once at St George’s Park when he was on England duty and so was I.

“I think he was getting into an ice bath.” if Rovers celebrate another memorable victory with McCann hailing his midfield star Herbie Kane as one of the driving forces behind their cup run.

Kane, on loan from Liverpool until the end of the season, has got the whole McCann family on their feet with outstanding performances.

McCann added: “There were five or six Championship clubs chasing him and credit to Herbie. He wanted to stay here and finish the job.
