Beeb in no Harry for more

-

HARRY Enfield and Paul Whitehouse’s sketch show has been dropped after 12 years, Hot TV can reveal.

The comedy pairing launched Harry & Paul on the BBC in 2007 and it had millions of fans.

But after four series and two specials, it has now finished for good.

Harry last night confirmed that the show won’t be returning to screens – and he joked that it was all his co-star’s fault. He said: “I’d like to do more. But Paul is too expensive so they won’t let us do it!”

Harry & Paul included parodies of telly shows including Dragons’ Den and Question Time.

It also poked fun at huge stars including Madonna and Bono.

The BBC sold it to broadcasters all over the world. But after its third series, the corporation started to lose faith and tried to pull the plug.

Harry begged them to let him and Paul work on more episodes, and they went and filmed another series and two specials.

But it has been almost four years since the last special aired.

A TV insider said: “At one time Harry & Paul was one of telly’s hottest comedies. But once its popularity started to wane the BBC lost faith in it.”

Paul is in the Only Fools And Horses musical in London’s West End at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
