A TEEN girl was stabbed to death in an apparently random assault near a children’s play park.

Scout Jodie Chesney was attacked as she sat on a bench along with her boyfriend.

The weapon was thrust so hard, that it snapped off in the 17-yearold’s body.

Locals and medics desperately tried to save her at the scene shortly after 9.30pm on Friday.

It is believed that two men were behind the attack, in London.

Jodie was involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and took part in the annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall last November.

The A-Level student had also been pictured outside Number 10 during a visit to Downing Street.

One woman said: “They were just sitting there – they were having a Friday night giggle.”

Mum-of-three Teresa Farenden and pal Kelly Smith ran to the park to try to save Jodie after Teresa’s son heard screaming.

Teresa said: “It is so traumatic. She is not going to get married – it has all been taken away.”

They said they found the victim lying on her back and moaning, with her boyfriend by her side.

They put her in the recovery position, gave her CPR and called for an ambulance – but said she died shortly after paramedics arrived.

Teresa said: “People are scared to help, but all I was thinking with my mother’s instinct was, ‘I need to help’.

“I was just trying to keep her legs in the recovery position because she was heavy, like a dead weight.

“Just as the ambulance crew turned up, she had gone. It was

devastating.” One girl at the scene said: “She was just the most happy person – never stopped smiling.”

An 18-year-old boy added: “She was just such a nice person, she never had arguments.”

Detectives from the Met Police’s homicide and major crime command are investigating and said there would be an increase in patrols around Harold Hill, Romford, east London, where the attack took place.

Jodie is the 18th person murdered in London so far this year.

Acting Detective Chief Supt John Ross, of the Met’s East Area Command Unit, said: “We are doing everything possible to bring to justice those responsible.”

London mayor Sadiq Khan said that he was “devastated” by the teenager’s death.
