Gray’s eyes on Ster rise

- By NEIL MOXLEY

DEMARAI GRAY says he hopes Brendan Rodgers’ track record with bright young stars will lift him on to another level.

The Leicester City winger (below) greeted the new manager’s arrival with a big thumbs-up given his new boss’ experience in bringing through talent, like Raheem Sterling at Anfield and Scott Sinclair in Glasgow.

Gray, 22, took just 10 minutes to leave Rodgers with a positive impression, finding the net against Brighton in midweek.

And he is hoping that the transformational work that the ex-Liverpool chief has done will filter down. He said: “Personally, it looks good for me and I’m really looking forward to it.

“He’s brought through players such as Raheem and Scott – it’s clear he likes this type – and I’m similar.

“He’s got the best out of Scott, who he also had at Swansea. But there are other young players, such as Kieran Tierney, who also came through at Celtic.

“I know my players, especially wingers. I like watching them to learn and improve myself.”

Gray added: “After his little introduction, everyone was buzzing.

“He showed us signs that us, the players, were looking for.

“He has ideas for us and he is adamant he will improve us.

“That’s the confidence we want. He seemed sure about his ideas already.

“He popped down and spoke to us, analysed the game and gave us his thoughts.”
