JORG CAN GET OFF THE BOOS

-

CHELSEA boss Maurizio Sarri knows Jorginho has the mental strength to cope with the Stamford Bridge boo-boys.

The Brazil-born Italy international has been singled out by some fans after struggling to impress in his first season at the club.

He was expected to be the key man after shining under Sarri at Napoli and made a decent start as Chelsea went 18 games unbeaten but he has since failed to impose himself on matches. Sarri’s insistence on sticking with Jorginho, 27, has also meant a change in position for N’Golo Kante, the man widely regarded as the best defensive midfielder in English football. None of that has endeared him to some sections of the Chelsea faithful – but Jorginho has vowed to win over the doubters.

He said: “The important thing is to know how to deal with the situation. I am calm because fans are like that – when you don’t win, they complain. “They have the right to complain, but I remain calm at all times.

“I will continue to do my job and I believe I can show my worth and change their minds.” And his manager has no doubt the £57million star will come good.

Sarri said: “Jorginho has a very strong character. “So he has no problem to play under pressure. “He played very well in the last match, better in the second half than in the first. “For him, it’s very important to finish the match in that way.”
