ARSENAL are ready to rival Liverpool for Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter.

The Germany ace – well known to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp from their days at Borussia Dortmund – has impressed since joining Gladbach in 2017.

And his form has prompted interest from the Gunners as well, with Unai Emery considering a summer move to bolster his options at the back.

Ginter, 25, is valued at around £35million by the Bundesliga side and has two more years to run on his contract at Signal Iduna Park, with the option of a further season from 2021.

He spent three years at Dortmund after joining the club from Freiburg.

Meanwhile, Ex-Sevilla keeper Monchi could become sporting director at Arsenal after leaving his role at Roma when Claudio Ranieri replaced Eusebio Di Francesco last week.

From his schoolboy days, young Ole “signed” the likes of Zico, Diego Maradona and Marco van Basten on computer games with his pals, secretly imagining himself one day in a dugout coaching his players and directing operations on a real field of play. Now, his dream has come true.

“Ever since I was a kid when I played computer games and wrote out all the teams with my mates.

“They were good old times when I used to sign Zico and Maradona and Van Basten. I think I have secretly always wanted to do the job I am doing now.

“I probably believe more that I can be a football coach than a football player. It took me quite a few years to get to the level I wanted to be at as a player.

“I absolutely love coaching and managing and helping players to improve their careers. And when you’re in a club like this that’s exactly what you do.

“It is what the gaffer did, what Sir Matt did, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho.

“We have all given debuts to young players and I’m sure they were the same as me thinking, ‘I gave him his debut’.

“When I saw Paul Pogba win the World Cup, I thought about when I coached him when he was 17. Now, he’s a World Cup winner and I am coaching him again.

“It’s great to see the achievements of the
