SHOCK AT DEATH OF REALITY TELLY’S MIKE

- By CHARLES WADE-PALMER

LOVE Island stars spoke of their shock last night after “Muggy” Mike Thalassitis was found dead.

The body of the reality favourite, who was just 26, was discovered in woods close to his home.

Police were last night yet to confirm the cause of his death.

Former League Two footballer Mike found fame when he appeared on Love Island in 2017.

His show rival Chris Hughes led the thousands of tributes which poured in online last night.

He tweeted: “Every inch of my heart goes out to his family & friends. A good guy, taken far, far too soon.”

Tyla Carr, who partnered up with Mike on the ITV2 show said: “I can’t believe the call I’ve just had.

“Mike, you were loved by all the Love Island family. You’ll be missed so much. All my love goes out to your friends and family. Shocked.”

Olivia Buckland wrote: “This is horrendous. I’m in shock. Mike you are going to be sorely, sorely missed. My heart is with your family. I’m in complete shock.” Mike’s best pal Danny Cutts died on Christmas Eve. Another Love Island star, Sophie Gradon, died aged

32 last June.

The former Miss Great Britain, who was in the show in

2016, was found dead at a house near Newcastle.

A pal claimed Mike had been left grief-stricken in recent days over the death of his beloved grandmother.

Fans shared their disbelief at his passing. One wrote: “Gone way too early.” Another said he would forever be remembered, adding: “We will never forget Big Muggy Mike. So shocked!”

His ex-girlfriend Megan McKenna wept on Celebs Go Dating last month as she spoke of her love for the Cypriot-born hunk.

He vowed not to be a “villain” on Love Island when he entered in week two, but was nicknamed “Muggy” after stealing Olivia Atwood’s heart.
