PAUL Merson’s ex-wife had no idea he was blowing millions on bets and booze during their marriage.

Lorraine Costin was married to the troubled former footballer for a decade but never noticed the staggering £7million he squandered on addiction.

The 90s WAG, who now works as a life coach, wants to help the Sky Sports pundit, who revealed last week that he’s back at Alcoholics Anonymous.

Paul’s life has spun “out of control” again and his gambling addiction left him “like a crack addict”.

Lorraine was married to the player at the height of his addiction.

The glamorous couple seemed to be living the perfect life when the Arsenal player was at the peak of his career.

But in November 1994, it all came crashing down when Paul finally told her he had drugs, alcohol and gambling addictions.

Lorraine said: “We never had any money worries because he paid off his debts. But if you’re earning £10,000 a week and you’re a gambling addict, you’re going to spend £10,000.

“I wasn’t even angry when I found out how much he’d spent. I just felt helpless.

“It’s so sad when I see him like that and think, ‘He’s 50 years old and he still hasn’t got control of his life’.

“I would love to sit down with him and have a chat. I would love to help him.”
