LOOK INTO MY FRIES... Girl cures 14yr burger addiction with hypnosis

- By MOLLIE MANSFIELD

A TEENAGE girl has finally been cured of her addiction to burgers – after 14 years.

Caitlin Braithwaite had refused anything else for dinner every day since the age of two as a result of a rare eating disorder.

Now 16, Caitlin was such a fussy eater that even thinking about trying fruit or vegetables would make her sick.

But after consuming more than 5,000 burgers, her desperate mum, Lorna, decided to try solving her daughter’s addiction with hypnotism.

After only one session Caitlin was cured – and she has started eating fruit and vegetables.

Lorna, 36, said: “For years all Caitlin would eat was burgers. Even when I tried to give her something else, she would refuse it.

“Since she was able to eat solid food, she had burgers almost daily for dinner and wouldn’t have anything else with it.

“Even when going out for dinner we had to make sure we went somewhere that had burgers. She wouldn’t be able to go to friends’ houses for meals either.

“Since the hypnotherapy, she is trying all sorts of fruit and vegetables, actually enjoys them, and is able to get her new healthy life on track.”

Caitlin had needed supplements all her life to make up for the lack of healthy foods she was eating.

Her mum said: “Even just the thought of eating fruit or veg made her physically sick. Any time she tried to get something healthy remotely near her mouth she would start to gag.

“She wouldn’t even have fries with her burgers for dinner.

“There were also points where she got so bored of eating burgers that she began to not want to eat – and that’s when I knew something had to be done.” Lorna, of Whitnash, Warks, added: “Every day I will find her trying a new type of healthy food and it’s great to see her take control of her eating. “Her main goal is eating a full roast dinner, but that will take time.

“But at least she’s off the burgers for now.” Cognitive behavioural specialist David Kilmurry, who cured Caitlin, said: “She came to the clinic with a horrendous fuel intake and even bigger phobia of vegetables, fruit and anything natural.

“Caitlin told me she was suffering headaches, mood swings, sugar rushes and light-headedness. “Following hypnotism in a sedated state, I offer my clients several plates of food, which Caitlin started to break the ice with.

“She tried cucumber first, then a grape, then fresh salads.

“A few days later she was training in the gym with her new energy and is looking to a bright, healthy future.”
