Dack magic is just trick as Mowbray shuffles the pack

-

TONY MOWBRAY hailed matchwinner Bradley Dack after his patched-up Blackburn team strolled to victory.

Dack, 25, scored his 40th goal for promotion-chasing Rovers on his 100th appearance for the club and the highly rated forward’s strike proved the winner.

Mowbray had to change personnel and formation at the last minute with Joe Rothwell and on-loan Manchester City prospect

Tosin Adarabioyo pulling out on Friday night.

That meant a start for Adam Armstrong who promptly scored a first-half cracker.

And Dack did the rest with John Swift pulling one back for a disappointing Reading.

Rovers boss Mowbray said: “Bradley Dack has now got 40 goals in 100 appearances for us.

“For a lad who plays No.10 that is a special amount of goals. He’s not a centre-forward.

“He draws fouls as people just want to kick him and he is very strong for a small lad.

“He can roll you if you get too tight and shoot off both feet.

“I’m pleased he is enjoying his football and helping us win games. We’d like Bradley to sign a new deal but realise he’s a kid who’s scored 40 goals playing at No.10.

“Can he play in the Premier League? I don’t know, it’s their decision. But if the phone doesn’t ring then we don’t have a decision to make.

“We lost a couple overnight. Tosin Adarabioyo had a tight hamstring and Joe Rothwell was vomiting all night.

“Adam Armstrong wouldn’t have started yet he’s scored a great goal.”

Rovers took the lead after just eight minutes, Armstrong planting a majestic curling right-foot shot into the top corner.

Three minutes after the break Blackburn scored a second as Dack got to a Sam Gallagher cross first, swivelled and fired past Rafael Cabral.

Swift hit the inside of a post before he got his goal with a cool finish.

Reading boss Jose Gomes said: “Of course it was a disappointing day. I was really angry and upset with the players at half-time.

“But football isn’t just about when you win and everyone is patting you on the back.

“It is about being strong in the tough moments. We will see who are the real men.”
