MICK’S SIMPLY FED UP WITH TV TALENT Chart star Hucknall turns down cash for judging jobs

-

MICK Hucknall turned down lucrative deals to be a TV judge, Hot TV can reveal.

The singer was offered spots on both The X Factor and The Voice.

He said: “I have been asked to be on those shows but I politely declined. They’re perfectly fine but they’re not my thing.

“I’m still creating music. I’m still writing. So I focus on that. Anything else that gets in the way of that would just be a distraction.

“It’s not that I’m lazy but I try to do as little as possible. I love my home life. I’m very happy when I’m with my family.

“So I just do what I need to do and then I go home.

“I don’t want more work on my plate.”

The X Factor and The Voice both have millions of fans. But Simply Red frontman Mick isn’t among them.

He said: “I don’t watch them. It’s not a slight on these things. I’m not insulting them in any way. It’s just that I’m not particularly interested.”

Mick is now calling on TV chiefs to commission a songwriting talent contest. He added: “A lot of the time these things are nothing to do with the creative process.

“I always thought the idea of having somebody on who created their own music, who wrote their own songs, would be an interesting thing rather than just focusing on somebody’s singing abilities.

“I think there are a lot of good singers out there. It’s much rarer to find somebody who is a good writer and a good singer.

“That is where the real treasure is.” KILLING Eve has been locked in for a fourth series as bosses fear its stars could be poached by Hollywood.

Executives at Sid Gentle films have got the verbal green light from Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, who is also an executive producer, that they will return.

A third series has been confirmed and a senior cast member said: “Killing Eve is coming back for series four and we have been asked about our availability.”

Insiders say that bosses made the early move – against the usual policy of commissioning shows only after the last is aired – as they are worried about losing their stars.

Jodie’s win at the Emmys for Best Actress added to her star status.

She is already in talks for Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel with Ben Affleck.

A Los Angeles source told us: “Jodie and Sandra’s standing in Hollywood is so

high now.”
