ARE YOU NOT Ole’s red rag to Kloppites

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has stoked Manchester United’s rivalry with Liverpool by taunting: “It won’t take us 30 years to win the league again.”

United and their Norwegian boss have their backs to the wall after a dismal start to the campaign which has reaped just nine points from a possible 24.

By comparison, Jurgen Klopp’s stars have won all eight league games and are on course to equal Manchester City’s record of 18 straight Premier League victories against United today as they chase a first title since 1990.

But the United boss has come out fighting on the eve of their big clash with Liverpool – and claimed their time in the title wilderness will extend to 30 years like their Anfield rivals.

“I’m sure we will bounce back and win the league – and I’m sure it won’t be 30 years until the next Premier League that we do win,” he said.

Solskjaer’s been given a free pass by United’s hierarchy this season as he reshapes the squad and tries to turn the club around.

But the Old Trafford 1999 Treble hero insists he would not settle for a draw today against Klopp’s runaway leaders – even though United are in the doldrums.

“You never take a draw when you’re at Man United,” he said. “You just don’t. I want to go out there and get three points. We need points, it doesn’t matter if it’s Liverpool, Manchester City or Brighton.

We want to win games. We need to start winning games. A win can turn the season around definitely.

“A good performance and result for us here can change players’ confidence, players’ mood, players’ perception of what is good.

“Maybe they haven’t really believed they are good enough at times and with a lack of confidence you think twice instead of acting on instinct.

“But I know these players are good enough, there are no worries about that.”
