Charli cooks up hit album

-

CHARLI XCX’s new girl group Nasty Cherry ended up recording their music in the kitchen instead of a studio.

Talking about their new Season EP, out now, Georgia Somary told me: “We were listening to a lot of Hilary Duff and Ashlee Simpson after a very drunken night at our favourite restaurant.

“And all the instruments were in the kitchen because we moved them there for a party and we just started playing, singing. It was a really fun night. I think the lyrics are tongue-in-cheek.”

Those nights never sound quite as good the morning after but

Nasty Cherry are the exception.

Debbie KnoxHewson added: “It was that moment when you wake up and you’re like, ‘Let’s have a little listen back to that’. But it sounded really good!”

LITTLE Mix have joined the ranks of concert legends at London’s

O2 Arena.

The quartet got an award after their fifth gig of the current LM5: The Tour gave them a total of 12 headline shows at the venue across four events, with over 184,000 tickets sold.

Emma Bownes, who works at The

O2, said: “It’s been an honour hosting Little Mix. We’d like to thank them.”

IF you fancy winter sunshine and a top music festival then Dubai has you covered.

LUVYA, on December 12-14, will be graced by artists such as headline act Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. For tickets head over to luvya.live.

THE biggest US girl group of all time are back and they still don’t want No Scrubs. Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes sold over 70million records, including that aforementioned 1999 mega hit about unscrupulous men. Sadly for womanhood, No Scrubs is as relevant today as ever.

Chilli told me: “Are you kidding me? Scrubs are still here today. Roaches don’t die, they multiply. “You think they die but they come back, become a new breed.

“It’s the one TLC song that every woman should know. You have to be schooled and understand to stay away from this kind of guy.”

All you Scrubs had better watch out because TLC are heading to London next summer to play the Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

Chilli said: “We produce loud and highly energetic shows.

“Any excuse we have to come to the UK we take, because we didn’t get to do it before.”

For all the records they sold, TLC went bankrupt due to signing bad deals. Reflecting on those tough times, Chilli added: “I hope what we went through helps many other artists.

“When you are young you just want to perform, so you might end up signing anything. Hopefully, representation for young artists is better today so they don’t get in those situations.”

The duo said self-titled 2017 album TLC would be their last-ever record, but they are planning different projects. And one of those could be a West End musical.

Chilli teased: “We are definitely working on that and it’s one of our biggest and most exciting projects.”
