COLIN TIZZARD has never concealed the fact that he believes Lostintranslation is a Cheltenham Gold Cup horse and his runner vindicated his trainer after yesterday’s victory at Haydock.
Given a masterful ride by Robbie Power, Lostintranslation is now the 9-2 Gold Cup favourite after denying Bristol De Mai a third successive victory in the Betfair Chase.
Bristol De Mai went down fighting in second place, with the gallant Frodon finishing third.
“The plan is now to have a go at the £1million bonus,” said Tizzard after celebrating his fourth Betfair victory.
“Now we go to Kempton for the King George and then the Gold Cup.” The bonus, last won by Kauto Star in the 2006-07 season, is paid if a runner lands the Betfair, King George and Gold Cup.
“I’ve never had one jump better than this fella,” added Tizzard.
“He’s just a lovely horse and we make sure we look after him as they don’t come very often.”
Despite Power’s faultless waiting ride on the winner, he said: “I got there way too soon after he travelled so well into the race.
“We’re dreaming of the Gold Cup now. He was a very good novice but wedidn’t know how he would fare in the big boys’ league. Now he’s proven how good he is.
“They don’t come much bigger than Bristol De Mai round Haydock, so we were going to find out plenty about his Gold Cup credentials.”
