Woeful Labour kicked to Corb

-

THE mask really did slip from Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Any doubt there is something sinister behind his public face of cheery bonhomie was left shredded.

His lack of action over allegations of anti-Semitism and a pig-headed unwillingness to apologise for his party’s woeful record on tackling this was forensically dismantled.

Under Corbyn the issue of anti-Semitism has intensified to an almost uncontrollable level, with hundreds of complaints against party members now being investigated.

Since he took over as leader in 2015, two female Jewish MPs have quit the party due to the abuse they sustained. One even needed a bodyguard at the party conference. Yes – a serving MP needed protection against her own party members due to her faith.

The party is now under investigation by the Equality and Human Rights Commission – and the only other political party to suffer that ignominy is the disgraced BNP. On the day Labour chose to showcase their “race and faith manifesto” their plans were comprehensively wrecked by the intervention of Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, inset.

In an unprecedented attack, Chief Rabbi Mirvis spoke of Jewish people in this country being “gripped by anxiety” that Labour might win this month’s election. He said “a new poison” – sanctioned from the very top – had taken root in the Labour Party. Corbyn had the chance to seize back the initiative with the BBC’s Andrew Neil TV interview, but failed lamentably. The suggestion he might want to say sorry was dismissed with huffing, puffing and a rolling of the eyes. Then he was shown to have less financial acumen than a primary school pupil when the interview moved to Labour’s tax and spending policies. He was at last forced to concede that hundreds of thousands of people on

ECO warriors are furious that seven out of our 10 biggest supermarkets have actually increased their use of plastic in the past year – and now they have got us in their sights. Research shows grocery chains’ use of plastic rose from

886,021 tonnes to

903,126 tonnes. The solution, according to Greenpeace, is to charge us more for those bags for life. They’ve suggested the price should soar

to 70p as that will ensure we remember to take them each time we shop. This is insanity.

The supermarkets already make a profit on the bags, currently costing between 10p and 20p, so why should they make even more – particularly as we are effectively advertising their stores every time we use the bags.

Why can’t we just go back to paper bags? They worked well and can be easily recycled alongside our papers. I’m baffled. modest incomes would pay more tax largely because they plan to scrap the marriage tax allowance, which would cost many people £250 a year.

He looked utterly clueless as his own policies were explained to him and it was demonstrated how someone earning just £14,000 a year could end up paying an extra £400 in tax.

He was equally all at sea when he suddenly decided to fund the £58billion “WASPI women” pension shortfall – but didn’t have the slightest idea where the cash would come from. By the end of last week, Labour sources were busy briefing that the whole campaign would be “re-cast” and “fine-tuned”.

So long as it is Corbyn conducting it, the tune will – thankfully – remain as flat as their level of

support.
