UP RIGHT TREE WITH POOCH ‘DOC’

-

Graeme for help. His dog Poppy has previously suffered abuse, including being thrown from a moving car.

When he took her on as a rescue dog he had no idea her past would mean she would be badly behaved.

He said: “When she first arrived here you’d go to stroke her and she’d duck down as though she’d been hit.

“Eventually she became really quite hostile towards other dogs.

“Sometimes people just aren’t understanding and it’s quite sad really.

“If Graeme was able to sort Poppy’s problems out, it would be fantastic.

“It would mean we could socialise with her where there are other dogs. That would be tremendous, because we can’t do that at the moment.”

Footballing legend Michael Owen, 39, is also benefitting from some expert advice.

The ex-England ace’s Staffordshire Terrier Ronnie is out of control.

He said: “Ronnie is a cracking dog. But he just simply doesn’t like other dogs.”

Earlier this year Michael watched in horror as Ronnie attacked another dog so brutally it was left needing stitches in its neck.

He said: “It was really quite savage.

“He was literally not going to let go until I got there and screamed down his ear and physically grabbed him.

“If he did attack another dog then the worst of course could be the worst, whether he got put down or taken away.

“He’s attacked one dog in his life, which is one dog too many. We just can’t afford for that to happen again.”

The three stars are all hoping getting Graeme on board will solve their pet problems.

And they agreed to have it caught on camera for new show Celebrity Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly. It will air on

Thursday as part of Channel 5’s Help The Animals appeal.

Now in its second year, the campaign aims to raise awareness and cash for five charities – the RSPCA, The Donkey Sanctuary, Blue Cross, Scottish SPCA and Wildlife Aid Foundation.

Other shows airing as part of Help The Animals include Save The Hedgehog with Steve Backshall tomorrow from 8pm.

Also featured is Funniest Ever Pets at Christmas featuring Jo Brand, Shane Richie and Michelle Visage on Friday from 8pm.
