Two close to call in elite clash
THERE’S no question that San Francisco 49ers against Baltimore Ravens is the game of the week.
Not only is it two of the best teams in the NFL, it’s the
No.2 offense going up against the
No.2 defence. The main thing is they’re both elite, but Baltimore does well running the ball, which is what the 49ers are worst at defending.
San Francisco are top four in every category of defence except stopping the run and it’s crucial they do that so their pass rush can get to Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (above).
It’s a test for 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo on the other side of the ball. That offense is so balanced, but Baltimore’s defence has been improving from week to week, so it’ll be a difficult challenge.
In my mind, whoever wins this game is probably the best team in the NFL right now.
Elsewhere, New Orleans Saints had another big victory on Thanksgiving against Atlanta Falcons.
Sean Payton is one of my candidates for coach of the year for what he’s done with the Saints.
When they lost Drew Brees everyone panicked but they went unbeaten with back-up Teddy Bridgewater and are looking good.
They’ve been one of the top teams in the NFC for the last few seasons but this year just seems different. Their defensive line especially is playing better.
It would not surprise me if they win the NFC Championship this year and reach the Super Bowl.
The hardest game to call this week is Minnesota Vikings against Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle has a slight advantage being at home but it will go down to the wire.
JIMMY GAROPPOLO
IT’S always interesting to watch him play.
He was hurt last year but is now getting into a rhythm.
This is the part of the season when he needs to start playing his best football.
